       I’m witnessing a frequent conflation of “don’t look away” with “subject yourself to a 24/7 media stream of atrocity and suffering”. Speak out, take action — but don’t traumatise yourself. It helps no-one.

       Prompted by reading two articles in as many days where the author is clearly vicariously traumatised (i.e. not being able to stop themselves imagining horrific things happening in normal, safe settings), and railing against people around them telling them to give social media a break.

       @gwil remind me of the Israel's campaign to show footages of horrible atrocities committed to their citizens in every newsrooms and parliaments around the world to justify their ongoing genocide...Emotion don't really help making wise decisions
