@tofugolem @stux Once more for those at the back:QUIT SPOTIFY.Give Deezer a shot. Still not great payouts, but that’s not really happening these days anywhere, and at least Deezer comes with less unethical baggage (see also: Joe Rogan controversy).

@tofugolem when I realized how artists were losing out I closed my Spotify ac and got off. And if I hadn’t done my own research into the creator (disaster) economy I probably would continue to believe all the hype about these services. Cory Doctorow got it right when he called platform decay ‘enshittification’😢

@tofugolem I've never used or even seen spotify, for this type of reason. It's not even good quality audio unless I believe you pay for the premium stream, though as noted, I don't, and won"t, use any of those music services. Buy the artist's work, see them live (and buy their tour merch, that's how they help defray touring costs), and skip these for profit streaming services. #flac #opus #ogg that I own, without #drm restrictions.

@tofugolem It just struck me, by going to one band's concert, and buying a t-shirt, that band made more from me in one evening than Weird Al made from 80 million spotify streams. Buying 2 of their digital albums would achieve the same result roughly. Plus I got to see a great show, and have a really good night out.
