Hello friends and mutuals on Mastodon. I am in need of help (don't worry, it's something that's beyond money, so if you have no money you can still help me) I need lots of advice on a situation involving another child who is BFFs with my youngest child who is ten years old. The friend is 11/12 (sixth grade). So, where we live, is this complex that houses mostly disabled people and people with addictions. Needless to say, almost everyone who rents here has some sort of PTSD and other neurodivergence. I need advice on how to create a COVID-safe, trauma-safe, space for a child who is not my own, but, has chosen our home to flock to for comfort. (Her father is incarcerated and she's raised by her mother who is disabled)She wants to be over here all the time, but, I have to keep ourselves safe from COVID (I have a weak immune system). She does wear the mask we give her without any complaints whatsoever, so, I know she will be accepting of any protocol we have in place. I'm thinking we can do 2 hour visits at our place, once a week. And that should be exposure down, especially if we are all masked (the kids wear fitted kn95s and I wear an n95) She is coming over this evening and I want to provide the children with snacks. Does anyone have advice on how to safely distribute snacks? Do I have the children eat in separate areas? I have one air purifier and a Corsi Rosenthal box fan filter I built. If anyone has advice on any detail I mentioned, please feel free to comment. I appreciate the help.
