#Harvard Law Review voted to censor what would have been its first blog by a Palestinian scholar—specifically, an editor said, because people “might oppose or be offended by it.” The Nation has released it in full: https://www.thenation.com/article/archive/harvard-law-review-gaza-israel-genocide/

@dell I was led to believe that "academic freedom" was about being able to publish unpopular ideas in the face of political repression. To speak Truth to Power, as it were, not to coddle injustices or comfort the bourgeoisie. This paragraph must have scared them to their cores:"As Edward Said reminds us, Zionism must be assessed from the standpoint of its victims, not its beneficiaries. Zionism can be simultaneously understood as a national movement for some Jews and a colonial project for Palestinians. The making of Israel in Palestine took the form of consolidating Jewish national life at the expense of shattering a Palestinian one. For those displaced, misplaced, bombed, and dispossessed, Zionism is never a story of Jewish emancipation; it is a story of Palestinian subjugation."

@bwinbwinThe only thing that's different between Zionism and European colonization is that the jews didn't have a nation state that represented them. That makes it a lot harder to decolonise, of course, as they don't have an obvious place to go back to. @dell

@stevenroose @dell you're not wrong. zionists wouldn't have an obvious place to return to. but what if they did? would the zionists do it?let's say... the US gave them the southern portion of texas (the area encompassed by corpus christi, laredo, and brownsville), and used the $4B/yr for relocation expenses for 10 years for every israeli who wanted to resettle in the new homeland, after which all aid to israel in palestine is cut off, would the zionists do it? would they take advantage of the offer to create a safe homeland for jews? what about florida (with the same conditions)?what are your thoughts?
