Comment editing has been disabled by Minds. No more replying to my comments before I finish! I'm guilty of hitting enter too soon all the damn time.At least we can still edit posts, right? Yeah.

Weird. Is it Canary mode only? Nope, I just tried turning it off, can't edit either way. And you're not in Minds+ so it's not that.

@dwarvenallfather I assume it's intentional until I hear otherwise.

@dwarvenallfather Because users who check their notifications immediately don't see your edits, so you end up talking past each other.People will get in the habit of trying to get it the first time. And if you totally screw up, you can still delete your comment before anyone sees it and redo it.

@dwarvenallfather I wonder if Twitter ever added editing. Maybe for paying users, knowing Elon. I think he promised editing but might have changed his mind.

@dwarvenallfather If they just made it so you have to press shift-enter or click send, that would eliminate 90% of the times I need to edit.

@dwarvenallfather I made a new account when Elon took over but I still hate it and haven't even logged on in over a month.

Comment editing is coming back.@bashynx confirmed it's a bug and @nemofin immediately found the culprit - someone accidentally changed 'comment' to '_compact' in the code that checks whether you have permission to edit your comment. Thanks guys!Now how'd this happen? Because the devs didn't test what they changed, and they didn't notice it after they deployed the changes on Friday morning BECAUSE THEY DON'T USE MINDS. Ben hasn't posted since Nov 5, Mark posted today but only posts once a month, Olivia might have deleted her account. Programmers have a saying (borrowed from chefs?) "you've gotta eat your own dog food" so you realize what you're doing wrong and you fix it. I play my own game. These guys don't use their own website.If it wasn't for Bashy working for Minds now, nothing would ever get fixed.https://gitlab.com/minds/minds/-/issues/4525https://gitlab.com/minds/front/-/commit/bc2f8092fecb2d438bf9fc30fb1ace86bdecaa12?page=2#dba9483c2180f8fa06ab5df5de9fafd0f615aba5_560_562

Hey @synthnostate - I know that it doesn't look much like it, but I do use the site multiple times per day - I'm just a bit more of a lurker in general when I use any social media/forums. I also spend a significant amount of time working with my own local version of our site and our pre-production environments (our sandboxes etc) doing many ordinary things such as making posts, interacting with posts, clicking various buttons, navigating around the site, etc.The changes that caused this issue had a significant regression scope, and unfortunately, we missed something when testing. I do sincerely apologise for that. I understand that it's quite annoying to make a comment and then not be able to edit it - once I was made aware of the issue today I moved it straight into our backlog for this sprint, and I anticipate that it should be fixed up soon.@bashynx is also absolutely fantastic to have around, so no disagreements there with how helpful she is.

Oh good - but don't lurk so much. I bet if you and the other devs posted "chat threads" (like @aeternis does every day for the writers) you would get a bunch of people talking about Minds dev and other tech stuff. You would notice things you don't see in sandboxes. Heh, maybe you need to do *more* testing in production.Thanks.
