Hello Fediverse. I'm posting this tonight from my federated Flipboard profile! We're now testing our #ActivityPub integration starting with my account. You can follow me here to see all the stories I'm curating about things like startups, photography and of course, the #Fediverse. Curious to hear your thoughts on how this is working. We’ll incorporate your feedback as we make more progress on federating Flipboard. Stay tuned for lots more soon.

@mike Well, I can see it, so that means that at least some part of it is working.Does replies work too?

@loke @mike replies really are key - ActivityPub integration without it feels incomplete. Flipboard comments on articles always felt like they were talking to no-one, having them become conversation starters on fedi would be super interesting.

@wiredfire > replies really are key - ActivityPub integration without it feels incompleteTo reverse a saying I've heard around the watercooler, AP minus replies = RSS.That said, publishing a feed that can be found and followed in a fediverse app at least allows us to follow, boost, and discuss what it publishes. I've had thoughts about some convention that tells apps whether the feed publisher receives replies or not, so it can display 'reply' if so, or 'comment' if not.@loke

@strypeyI think it's mostly a "problem" based on whatever implementation you're using. Something like Kbin correctly threads everything so there's not much confusion. Microblogging platforms implement it differently.

Sorry I'm lost. Can you explain how...@roguetrick> Kbin correctly threads everything so there's not much confusion... relates to a...> convention that tells apps whether the feed publisher receives replies or not, so it can display 'reply' if so, or 'comment' if not?

@evan @mike@flipboard.com thanks for helping to make this happen through your work on #ActivityPub. This standard is well on its way to making the online world better by bringing us all back to the promise of interoperability. The implementation was a bit easier than we expected and well worth the effort. I highly recommend federation for any product with a social graph.
