       @Syberia small businesses in my medieval Italian town apparently don't have that problem. I mean, they're required by law to accept cashless payments and those aren't cheap, but since all card terminals are malfunctioning and the tech guy "is about to show up" since like 3 years now.... 🤣

       @ThatCrazyDude @Syberia I've always assumed the bank tax is included in all prices. You can pay with cash, and I do, but we are all paying the bank tax nonetheless.

       @lccmv @Syberia well, I don't know how it is elsewhere, but here in Italy the shopkeeper pays a fee for every POS transaction, and that's €1 on average. On top of all the taxation, because that's considered an extra service. Now, when you're buying a coffee of a pack of smokes, and you pay with plastic, the fee is usually more than the profit margin, so....

       @ThatCrazyDude @Syberia Does the law by any chance allow different prices for cash and plastic? I'm guessing no, and I'm also guessing that would be violently repealed with the argumentation that it hurts people's rights when in reality it imposes the plastic tax on everybody.
