I think i can speak for most Fedi admins when I say;On the #Fediverse we care a lot more about (mental) health rather than keeping you on here as long as possible so with that said...Take a break from your feed every now and then! Go read a book, take a walk or play a game :ed_grin: The Fediverse will be here when you'll get back❤️

@stux Very true, and a great distinction as far as what monetization does from a platform ownership perspective. Other aspects remain (pursuit of power and prestige through followers, ego), but this is an important distinction, regardless. Tip 'o the hat to all the Fedi admins out there.I am guilty of my Fedi feed affecting my mental health. Old habits... an addiction I picked up from the old monetized platforms that I'm not on anymore. Life was better when I just wrote web articles blind.

@stux i am currently re-reading 1984 by Jeorge Orwell. i read it back when i was a teenager and i loved it. now i am loving it even more as i am now an adult and think differently.big brother is watching you.

@stux Paradoxically, if you go out and do stuff, read that book, take that walk (with photos), play with your pet (ditto), you'll come back with more interesting things to post and will consequently be a better participant in the #Fediverse.

@stux Indeed, I can walk away from Mastodon and when I come back the feed is in the exact same place I left it, unlike the UI at certain other places which seem to spmehow not cope with "the user has not interacted with you for a while".
