@evelynefoerster My neighbour from my rural home called me> There's no cellular, he has a smartphone now, but no phone service. So, we called through an APP and we just hung up, 2 hours later! I never talk that long, but he's new in a small community, I've become his closest friend and when I shut down, there's no one, so he calls me to chat> I don't mind, although we need to make shorter calls. I was in the middle of so much when he called. LOL

@Rasta @evelynefoerster Nice! Except for the salted caramel of course. I loathe and detest the very idea of that stuff! The whole point of caramel is that it is sweet! Stop putting salt in to bring the sweetness down. 😉Also, salt is not good for lots of people (Sorry, end rant!)I've had my first coffee too. More to come later Cheers

@evelynefoerster I like Spicy Sunflower seeds.@NormanDunbar I add them to my grocery order ,because they are hard to find. All summer, I went store to store, trying to get enough to last me until I could fine more. Cracked Pepper, Chilli, Dill Pickle. MMmm good

@evelynefoerster Not only delicious but addictive @NormanDunbar As you may know, from May 2023 to October 2023, I moved 50 tonnes of rock, gravel, soil and patio stones, dug a ditch, lost weight, got a nice waist size #Neener LOL , and because I was outside (spitting shells) I went through a package in a day! And in the rural community, there's no stores! every time I saw a store along the highway, I asked, and I bought everything they had, cleaned them out, and no more came!

@Rasta @NormanDunbar It's interesting that you went through a package (assuming you mean a package of sunflower seeds by "spitting shells") in a day while working outside. It's not uncommon for people to enjoy snacks while engaged in outdoor activities, especially ones that require physical effort. However, it can be challenging if local stores don't have an ample supply of your preferred snacks.

@evelynefoerster I'm addicted to JuJube candy too. I always order the max 10 bags with my grocery order. It's not like we do take-out, or dine-out or any other luxury in the last three years, I take a little liberty on my comfort snacks

@wauz @evelynefoerster First, for example, Rural Stores are almost gone. There's less than a dozen in 160 kms. When Turkeys go on sale for Christmas, when they run out, they can't get more until next delivery. The trucks that deliver to the store come on Thursday, and they didn't have any. So, you go further, to the city, order with your groceries and try to keep a supply. Supply and Demand. IE: Sugar is being used greatly for Christmas baking, there's a shortage right now. $2 sugar is $13 now

@wauz That's what caused the shift and drives up the price. @evelynefoerster We've been discussing tactics for changing retail activity. Only buy reduced, or on sale items. Force stores to discount more, to move it off the shelves. Within reason, you can't live on Toilet Paper sales.We buy on sale, have a storage corner in the basement, things we buy regular, like Coffee, was $20 per can, Rural. on sale $8.99 in big city stores on sale. I have 4 cans stockpiled when it goes back to 14 in city
