Homelessness is a state of deprivation in which a person’s freedom is profoundly compromised, writes a professor of philosophy. If a society (like the U.S.) insists they cherish freedom, it must implement anti-homelessness policies as liberation for people who lack housing. https://theconversation.com/being-homeless-means-not-being-free-as-americans-are-supposed-to-be-214627

@TheConversationUS Isn't that the problem - "anti-homelessness policies"? Those policies criminalize homelessness. Anyone who thinks that is going to change any time in the next century is drunk.Try getting a Section 8 voucher. In this country the wealthy are idolized as Masters of the Universe, and it's a criminal offense to be poor, so ...That professor of philosophy should go back to smoking his pipe where no one has to hear his ridiculous, unproductive opinions.

@Axomamma @TheConversationUS I think the distinction is between anti homelessness policies, and anti homeless policies; the latter are what we get, the former are what we need. Not hostile architecture to chase them away, but to make it harder to end up on the streets in the first place by providing housing.
