       @simon ugh. They really failed in hiring and building a culture that actually met their mission.And, apparently, in not putting non-complete clauses in their contracts so anybody who went to MS would be bankrupted...

       @simon To me, it’s the AGI part of the mission that looked toxic from the start — it’s impossible to build sth on top of such an extraordinary claim without attracting greed, madness and drama.

       @simon I know folk that were in the process of setting up to spend 6–7 figures annually with them, and now legal and procurement are going to be… much harder to convince than before. They prefer dealing with adults.

       @simon The idea that you accept a $10B+ investment from a for-profit public company yet think you can somehow still keep the whole organization operating as a non-profit was kind of insane (at least in the US economy). The fact that they didn’t give Nadella advanced warning and then announced Altman's firing *while the stock market was open* did not exactly inspire confidence. I had assumed there was some critical time urgency involved. But it was just incompetence.
