@stux You're right. In fact, the best way to win is to not participate at all. Make the retail corporations suffer or look for some of the best online deals that are actually loss leaders for the corporation. In my case, I wanted some additional entertainment options and MGM+ was on sales for 0.99 a month for a year. Cha ching!

@stux I am not an Apple person. In fact, I have a free Motorola Android phone from Metro By T-Mobile. I refuse to pay a lot for a phone. When it comes to myself, I am a cheapskate.

@stux I don't understand why anybody would buy a flagship phone or think they would need one. Wouldn't it be better to have a laptop and just a cheap phone? But that's to my line of thinking only.

@stux for bigger stores maybe, but i know some stores that give legit discounts. Tweakers also keeps track of price spikes weeks before black friday, and its less then a thing then you think

@housepanther For the average users, I guess they think brands are important and/or they want to show others how much money they can spend on a phone, I guess. The only reason I got one is I'm a developer and need to be able to verify that apps look good (some flagship phones have notches in strange places that could affect UI)Otherwise, I'd probably buy the cheapest thing. Years ago my main phone was in repairs and I bought a cheap Nokia Android and that /still/ runs perfectly fine.@stux

@hvangalen @stux See, the difference is that you have a real need for one if you are testing stuff with it. That's altogether different. It's the people that are barely making ends meet that buy these ridiculously expensive phones that just make no sense to me. Why would I burden myself with a 100+ dollars a month of phone and service payments? Right now, since I took the freebie phone, my monthly service + insurance is 46 bucks. My employer reimburses me 40 dollars for using the phone for work. I love a 6.00 a month phone bill.

@housepanther Yeah, true.And after 2 years of those deals they get suckered right into the next "what they think is a bargain"-deal which it really ain't. But you and me know that.But wow, basically 6 bucks a month, that's pretty sweet! I'm running with a SIM-only thing for about 20 and switch between phones often. (My employer emburses everything because I am my own employer. 😁 [This means I don't have to pay taxes basically but still pay the for the majority])@stux

@stux heb toevallig van 'n bepaald product de prijs in de gaten gehouden, omdat ik 't eerder niet kon bestellen (geen budget).Ging aanvankelijk bij toeval, omdat de pagina in de browser nog open stond, waardoor ik zag dat de prijs iets was gestegen. Gedurende de afgelopen maand schommelde de prijs omhoog en omlaag.Vandaag is 't weer de goedkoopste prijs, maar wél gratis verzenden.Omdat ik het budget nu wél heb, en het product nodig heb, heb ik dus toch wat gekocht op Bl.Friday 😂🤪

@stux Meh. I saw the more expensive jigsaw today for the same price as the less expensive one I bought a week or two ago. Not a fake sale.I’m still okay, simply because the more expensive one is heavy and the less expensive one is light, so I want the less expensive one.(The main advantage of the more expensive one is its motor is brushless so it uses less battery power and so runs longer. But I do very, very little sawing. VERY, VERY, VERY LITTLE.)
