@stux You're right. In fact, the best way to win is to not participate at all. Make the retail corporations suffer or look for some of the best online deals that are actually loss leaders for the corporation. In my case, I wanted some additional entertainment options and MGM+ was on sales for 0.99 a month for a year. Cha ching!

@stux I am not an Apple person. In fact, I have a free Motorola Android phone from Metro By T-Mobile. I refuse to pay a lot for a phone. When it comes to myself, I am a cheapskate.

@stux I don't understand why anybody would buy a flagship phone or think they would need one. Wouldn't it be better to have a laptop and just a cheap phone? But that's to my line of thinking only.

@hvangalen @stux See, the difference is that you have a real need for one if you are testing stuff with it. That's altogether different. It's the people that are barely making ends meet that buy these ridiculously expensive phones that just make no sense to me. Why would I burden myself with a 100+ dollars a month of phone and service payments? Right now, since I took the freebie phone, my monthly service + insurance is 46 bucks. My employer reimburses me 40 dollars for using the phone for work. I love a 6.00 a month phone bill.

@hvangalen @stux Very true! And nice that you are working for yourself. I wish I had that luxury. I tried and failed at business 3x. I reckon that means I am just not cut out for it.

Does anybody have any experience with Jingsha motherboards? AliExpress has a motherboard, CPU, and memory combo for 217 bucks. Seems too good to be true. It's for a Xeon e5-2699 with 128GB of RAM.

Are there any #Linux #vim users out there? For some reason #Arch is ignoring the /etc/vimrc file. I want to set a few system-wide options. According to the Arch wiki, I am doing it right. 🤔

@luisgulo That works for /home/<username>/.vimrc. I wanted to make a change that is system-wide. It did work when I changed the syntax on to syntax off in the defaults.vim file.
