       @sushubh Ha ha ha. FWIW Eugene Rochko started Mastodon project because he was concerned about online abuse. Lack of quote tweets was a deliberate anti feature. I see this new friction in the reply function (in app only!) as a continuation of his fight against online abuse.

There were SO MANY requests from the ‘refugees’ but he stuck to his guns. And then later when the bus had already left, “Oh. I’m reconsidering my decision.”

       @Deus @adnan @sushubh i bugged alex for it for like a year and finally it was implemented in jan 2022 in the most abrasive way possible to fedi. made a lot of people upset because it also broke a lot of compatibility but eventually people stopped being pissbabies about it. now it's supported in pleroma proper but i think that was after mastodon poorly impemented it
