@matrix @element Hmm.. so does this law only apply to end user apps and not to services that route e2e encrypted messages between those apps (or even to keyservers that facilitate the initial handshake)? I may be asking for legal advice š

@praveen Even the criticism of this ban from FOSS community is missing the point. It isnāt just that these apps are open source but that they are simply implementing of protocol of communication. It is like banning a web browser like Chrome (client app for http) because they found a problematic website on the internet.

@rgarner @byogesh I usually stop using the website when I see this pop up instead of trying to find a way around the ad blocker block. I donāt use Firefox but I wonder if its Total Cookie Protection now makes it irrelevant whether ads are turned on for a website. They wouldnāt be able track your across the web.

@bcantrill @nikclayton dtrace seemed like magic when it was introduced. I felt so empowered debugging issues without source code. I think I even managed to solve a few bugs.

@sushubh Ha ha ha. FWIW Eugene Rochko started Mastodon project because he was concerned about online abuse. Lack of quote tweets was a deliberate anti feature. I see this new friction in the reply function (in app only!) as a continuation of his fight against online abuse.

@randahl Vertical solar panel deployment will also have to ensure that a panel doesnāt cast its shadow on another. You will need to space them out. There is very little space on the roof of an urban house. Also flat panels are better protected against wind.

@aral @DaveMasonDotMe I donāt blame them. But I am hoping that if Microsoft makes NPUs standard in laptops, we will Linux supporting this hardware too. Linux for Qualcomm snapdragon elite blah blah ARM chips.

@Deus @adnan @mozilla Shutdowns are not uncommon. This feature is a life saver. But all of these folks lost all their post history. Mastodon doesnāt yet import posts from backup.
