I've been saying for a while that "AI" is not about having super brilliant people on staff, it's about having money/investment to pay for *hardware access. *"AI" basically comes with a big hardware dongle that forces you to pay massively to big corporations. You can do inference on expensive machines people have at home but to train you need more infrastructure. And this always means that should you come up with something smart, bigger companies will quickly copy it if it's worth it. You can't protect your business. Because there isn't much of it. You are a thin layer between a user and Microsoft's/Google's/Amazon's infrastructure with basically nowhere to go.https://mastodon.world/@Mer__edith/111443004371891467

@tante yet another reason to support development of decentralised infrastructure and the means to pay the nodes run by individuals providing it.
