@tschaefer Give IPv6 users a blue bubble and give IPv4 users a green bubble.

@tschaefer IPv6 availability for regular consumers. With that in place the services *will* follow. IT Ops departments don’t want to put in the work for something that “almost no-one” uses. Make all clients use it and that argument falls flat, along with “nobody would notice the difference”.

@tschaefer I'm wondering if IPv6 over mobile telephony internet with Android would face the same issues as over WiFi if they activated multicast snooping / routing: https://issuetracker.google.com/issues/149630944Fortunately this longstanding issue is hopefully, finally fixed now in Android (haven't verified yet). Now if only smartphone vendors were providing regular, longterm updates...

@tschaefer Maybe a follow up question would be to ask people why they are not using #ipv6. Or, if they have the ability to deploy ipv6 but are not doing so, why not?

@tschaefer Mix of 1 and 5. I have at least one service that flat out does NOT work unless my router has a PUBLIC ipv4 address. Is a well known issue.

@tschaefer* Companies need to enable IPv6 in their internal networks.* Consumers need to be taught how to remotely connect to their home network via IPv6. VPN to home is still one of the major arguments against DS-Lite, for example.* Smart Home devices need to better support IPv6. Or even at all.

@T_X I was never able to reproduce this WLAN issue with my pixels, only with some samsung. At mobile I never seen that problem. There are other problems. Eg. O2 doesn't support IPv6 over 2G. So you need to disable 2G, otherwise you loose IPv6 too after a switching back to 4G/5G.Roaming in NL breaks, when forced to use 3G. Unfortunately they still provided 3G during my last visit.

@doachs @tschaefer I can guarantee that most people wouldn't even know what "deploy IPv6" means. Nor would they care if they had it deployed or not. All they care about is that their Internet works reliably.

@tschaefer @doachs Most of my point still stands. If the network is working reliably with IPv4 only, deploying IPv6 is extra work for little to no benefit. The Business doesn't care if they are using IPv6 or not. Their users don't care if they are using IPv6 or not.
