:comfymusic: Strawberry added EBU R 128 volume normalization recently, an alternative to ReplayGain. The information is stored in the database, not as tags on the files. Requires rescanning files to add it. Sounds good though, so I will probably rescan my whole library overnight. The default loudness value (-23) was very quiet, I had to raise that all the way to -11 before it sounded ok.

@rizele Thanks for mentioning this! I hadn't realized EBU R 128 was different from the old ReplayGain. The old ReplayGain LUFS is -18 so -23 might feel quiet. However -11 is really extreme! Streaming services (Spotify, Youtube Music etc) use -14 and Apple Music uses -16.Are you positive there isn't some negative preamp somewhere in your playback chain? I'm really not sure if -11 is good to use...

@rizele Oh, also if you want to add R 128 information to tags rather than a database: https://github.com/complexlogic/rsgain with the option -p ebur128 does the job.

@susie Strawberry's volume control is strange and does not match with anything else on my system. When using ReplayGain I had to set -15db on the pre-amp slider to make it comparable to other music players. Thanks for the info about rsgain. I have used that for the old ReplayGain tags sometimes, and did not know it could write these. Strawberry might not read them yet though.

@rizele I see! Yeah, -15db sounds crazy big to me... Personally I would count a player that requires any amount of preamp as "broken", but I get it if you like the software enough to fiddle with it.I made a mistake on the example command btw. The right/proper one-liner is: rsgain easy -p ebur128 -m MAX <directory here>. The "easy" command makes rsgain work recursively and apply album gains also based on the separate folders. So requires the albums to be in their own folders. -m MAX makes it use all threads available.

@susie Strawberry choked on trying to update my entire library, so I will go back to using rsgain like you suggested here. I can run it incrementally to update all files over time.
