Okay, so with news of Sam Altman's firing, I'm just now learning about the sexual abuse allegations against him and holy fucking shit. @Wolven after the news that Andreessen and Horowitz are funding a site that specializes in deepfake rape videos, and given the horrendous things reported about Musk & Thiel, am pretty sure there is not one techbro out on the Valley that isn't a rapist. it explains their OBSESSION with not needing consent for data mining and any of the other digital slave-trading they base their paper wealth on. because imagine if we held the power of consent and not them?

@Wolven He'll land on his feet. You know who would hire him, maybe to run AI on Twitter/X. The question is, how much will regular people wake up to Altman's predatory nature and maybe decide to dig deeper into other people and companies. They walled it off into crypto and let the blockchain people segue to AI with no accountability. Maybe this will wake people up.

@Wolven Yeah. I knew about the correlation. My question really should have been "why so many sociopaths are selected and funded as high flying execs?"But the answer is in the question. A sociopath lacks empathy for others. So, they can steal content, exploit workers and take morally wrong acts without concern. Ie, they generate offerings and profit levels that moral people would not.

@Wolven Yeah, I've run in circles with the dudes that uphold these dudes as examples and they're not about consent, autonomy or any other human rights.Lots of discussion about what a woman's role is. It was so normal that I genuinely didn't understand how traumatized I was until I was out of that space.My tech adjacent friend of my spouse insisted on telling me that rape was adaptive and took glee at my discomfort at the discussion. That circle loved inducing discomfort in women.

@Wolven Oh yeah, I argued so hard against his arguments (I was studying Anthropology at the time, some great primatology classes) and had plenty of arguments against that were rational and fact based (legitimately, adaptation means babies not sex) but I didn't realize till later that he just enjoyed my distress.I think of that conversation a lot in our current environment.

@Wolven It would never have surprised me to hear accusations against any of those guys I knew though I'd never physically experienced anything in that realm.But, discussions were pretty repulsive at times and there was just always the undercurrent that they didn't like women despite them allowing me in the space (because of my ex and my own competence at technology and academic topics).Also had a couple of them mess with my ability to find work because they felt personally...

@Wolven fucked over by me. It was a really petty and gross environment but I was 18 and first in family in college at the time I started to know this crowd. It was super normalized and I didn't recognize it for what it was for years.I fought back in my way, always fairly outspoken except in defense of myself.The big tech dudes have got to be so much worse with the audacity and power they have on hand.

@Wolven It's been good to see more people talking about those similar experiences.So much of what is said "feels" wrong but isn't actionable. It's both isolating and reinforces cultures that are misogynistic, racist, eugenic, fascist, etc. The general creep of it all was hard for me to see at 18 but has became clearer over time.In academia it often felt like it was part of having the freedom to have the discussions but I think it spoke to the dark heart of it all.

@Wolven we are now at a technological point in time where more date means better AI. Just compare Adobe Firefly (with consent) to Midjourney (no consent). It‘s like comparing Siri to ChatGPT. You *can* do LLM with consent only. As long as you are happy with the output quality of Siri or Alexa. *and* you are ready to pay 150$ a month to use it.
