@fbievan Going from VodafoneZiggo to Delta. They default to CGNAT tho according to most, if you ask them, they'll remove it.The modem indeed is kinda bs, idk why it's not an option.

@finlaydag33k Yeah idrk why that can't be put into bridge mode.Ipv6 is still probably the better solution than CGNATI still need to mess with IPV6 more NGL

Update: Had a chat with the provider, they do *not* deliver *any* modems that can be put in bridge mode... Which means we're going to have to buy our own modem to do this instead...Lovely how they never mentioned this and we now have unforeseen expenses just because they don't provide a fucking modem that can be put in bridge mode --'

More update: A year ago they told us on an information evening we could attach our own network gear to theirs just fine without issue. They didn't tell us that the modem couldn't be put in bridge-mode.Now some CS nerd is telling me: "It's in the manual given with the modem it cannot be put in bridge-mode! So we did mention it"Yea well... Kind of a year too fucking late now innit?

@finlaydag33k In 2006 Comcast told me I couldn't use a router to build a home network with their modem and would have to buy a second internet line. I went out the next day and bought my own gear and returned theirs. ISPs can blow me if they think I'll ever rent their garbage again.

More update: They legit told me I might be using a switch, not a router... :stallman_thaenkin: That's one fancy fucking switch then with DHCP, Firewall, BGP, RADIUS and everything included. :yay:

@blackknight95857669 Yea, over here the main issue is that they promised A during a questions round, then denied ever promising A so now we have to pay about 200 bucks to get our own ONT.

@finlaydag33k Ouch. Yeah that's not cool but is a fairly usual occurrence. They'll say almost anything to get you to sign on then all of a sudden "We don't know what you're talking about." Why I've decided it's best to get my own stuff. Tho of course I'm not doing anything super fancy, just modem/router. I just figure ISPs are gonna do what they can to milk you, so why help em heh

@blackknight95857669 Yea fair. The downside is that I thought it'd be as easy as just putting modem in bridge-mode like *every other ISP I've every had to deal with* or yeeting the fibre in my router (but also this requires a special SFP+ module with MAC and certain certifications and REEEEEEEEEE).

@finlaydag33k Sounds like the government. I had a job where I had to open mail and sort it.Government: look how much money we saved by only giving workers 1 letter opener.Workers: Huddles together passing around the letter opener in a token ring pattern.
