Today I haven't had time to proceed with the FreeBSD installation on the old MacBook Pro - but I tried with a Fedora 39 on an external disk, and everything works out of the box (except the wifi driver, that I had to install from the repository and the sound which works but sounds quite flat).I'll also try with GhostBSD.#FreeBSD #Fedora #GhostBSD #MacBook #MacBookPro #MacBookProRetina

@helix2301 I'm still at this point, as I haven't had the time to continue. I think I will make some progress in the next days or weekend

@stefano -- I could get everything working on my old 8 gig MBP (2010) with FreeBSD. The mouse touchpad works, but not using the atp driver. Gotta swap it out. Also, wireless is a no go. Broadcom. Yuck. Wired Ethernet jack works flawlessly. Have a little USB wifi dongle for my raspberry pi's that works out of the box. For old hardware, the MBP is a beast. Weighs a ton. Heavy aluminum casing. Don't make them like that anymore.
