At the end of the day, COVID-19 made people realize:- They could work from home and that most offices are shitty places.- Their job was really shitty.- Governments could finance pretty much anything they wanted.- Global warming could be stopped.- The really important jobs were the ones that are the worst paid (nurses, for instance).- Most governments are run by idiots, who are in the pocket of the wealthiest.

@ParadeGrotesque I think I disagree with this...- government can finance whatever short term project they want. Don't think you can just spend indefinitely. But there's certainly a few one-off projects that they could fund to make a big impact on climate change.- the people doing the "important jobs" are still getting the shaft, and the grifters are still getting rich, so I guess no one cares?

@steve See some of my previous posts: politicians can finance pretty much anything they want, as long as they are willing to tax the wealthiest.Since they are now in the pocket of the wealthiest, they won't tax the hand that feeds them. Also, people may have realized that nurses, janitors, delivery people, etc... Are the ones holding society together and doing real work. But politicians are still unwilling to tax the rich, hence nothing has changed.

@ParadeGrotesque We realized that all the hedge fund owners and money managers are completely unnecessary. They only funnel money to the rich. We realized that the rich are willing to let us all die to make lots more money. They prolonged the pandemic so the could make a “killing”. What was it? A trillion? We realized the air could smell fresher than we ever knew. I live in a big city. https://www.oxfam.org/en/press-releases/ten-richest-men-double-their-fortunes-pandemic-while-incomes-99-percent-humanity

@ParadeGrotesque it also showed a lot of women that their husbands don’t actually like them, and that they are actively choosing not to participate with the family. Take away all that extra “busy stuff” that kept them away from home, and they lost their minds. They realized that it’s not that he doesn’t have time, it’s that he doesn’t want to so he won’t.

@ParadeGrotesque Then there was that whole BLM thing, where people were reminded that police control the governments of all major US cities, and liberals mumbled until they could go back to increasing funding for police. One of the things people leave out of a lot of political analysis, for the US or for a lot of places, is that most people don't willingly support governments; they feel helpless and afraid in the face of them.Because states are based on violence and threats of violence.

@ParadeGrotesque my reply is not directed at you.The ongoing pandemic has also made people realise that:All those with power and wealth don't work for us and certainly don't care about us. We exist only as expendable units of extraction. The entire mainstream media lies to us all all the time and will always follow the line of the rich and powerful against our interest. That despite a global pandemic they had to go to work or they would starve. Going "back to normal" wasn't a choice, it was a demand from the rich and powerful.People are not stupid, they just feel powerless. They are made to feel powerless through media, politics and the police, in order to ramp up the powerlessness still further politics have made protest a highly risky endeavour where violence and prison time are a strong possibility. These policies are legalised by all politicians, are sold by the media and policed with relish. We need to stop looking down our noses at people who are just trying to survive and provide for their loved ones under an extremely oppressive system where hunger and homelessness are rising exactly as fast as the oligarchy's tax haven accounts. People are doing what they are told is safe. They are not to blame for being lied to or lacking the tools to know they are lied to. This stuff is highly technical and complex. Most don't have time or energy for extended personal education projects. They have to trust what they are told. Again, that lack of knowledge is a policy choice by all political parties. We need to stop blaming those who are struggling for the fact they are struggling. We need to empower each other at every level so we can fight back and take back all that has been taken from us by politicians of all stripes, enforced by the police and marketed by msm as good for us.Leaders do not work for us.

@ParadeGrotesque Very true! Also people learned that they don't have to put up with a shitty situation. We can fight back!

@ParadeGrotesque This has historic parallels. The whole renaissance thing in Europe was triggered by the plague.

@ParadeGrotesque One of reasons governments are "run by idiots" is because most people don't get politically involved. The government is only as good as those who want to participate.

@ParadeGrotesque 🤣🤣 That last item. Imagine this particular country, during the 2020 and 2021 lockdowns, the ones heading the "task force" are 9 out of 10 from the Army and National Police. The remaining sit, the National health, was practically there just to support them, so their draconic decisions are justified. They even started a propaganda that the people are disobedient. Then Google, a UK group, and I think even Apple, released a study of their location tracking of mobile gadgets and has proven the government claims 100% wrong that the people are disobedient. This government did not stop the propaganda until 4 months after the figures were released and they were proven wrong. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣Yep, that happened. Believe it or not, it was not in China, it was from a "democratic" country.

@ParadeGrotesque all true - that is why the corporation-state has made such a big effort to suppress this and force back-to-office protocols

@ParadeGrotesqueAnother world is possible and the most forbidden thing on earth is to think about this. And I mean to think about details, methods, models to test them, and actual experiences in the real world.

@ParadeGrotesque except for the relative clause in your last point, this is spot. Governments are not in the pocket of the wealthy. They are the wealthy. We have a system run by and for the interests of capital. There isn't a pure Democratic system that has been corrupted by Elon Musk, George Soros or Goldman Sachs (pick your poison depending on your level of antisemitism). We have a ruling class who are committed to furthering their own interests. Some of them run industry, some run media, some run banks and some run government. They are not a homogeneous group. They are however united in maintaining a status quo whereby capital ownership brings power and wealth. Those without are expendable and screwed
