I never thought that software routing would be so slow, I lowered the latency by 1ms (which represents 25%) by migrating to an hardware router.

@PorCus @jeroen @IPngNetworks The context is an IXP with 0€ of budget (at Rennes). We interconnected with another small IPX at Nantes, and I did it on a VM on my own server just to make the ping work at first. An old SRX which pulls ~30W came in handy to migrate it outside of my server, so I used that. But if you have some small servers for VPP, I would be happy to use it :)

@jeroen @PorCus @IPngNetworks I mean actual tangible gear, not the config on it :DI use what I can gather here and there.

@alarig @jeroen @PorCus ipng.ch/s/articles/ have discussed a few tangible (cheap, medium, expensive) gear. Take a look at the Netgate 6100, the Fitlet2 and the APU6 for examples.

The context is an IXP with 0€ of budgetI doubt any of these examples fit the cost restriction ;)CC: @alarig@hostux.social @jeroen@secluded.ch @PorCus@hostux.social
