@stefano Oh I actually didn't know you could even run third party operating systems on apple hardware(aside of the whole asahi thing on the new apple silicon), I always assumed it was too locked down. And I'm even more impressed by it running FreeBSD, how's the driver support for things like camera, bluetooth and WiFi?

@stefano I have old mac pro, from around 2012. The best thing is, this machine can have up to 6 disks when you remove CD-ROM. The only thing that take me a while was installing rEFInd.With power of FreeBSD, i want to turn this into local storage + some services that could aid me.

@Anniiii I don't know, yet. I think wifi isn't working but will try with WiFibox. But I'll keep posting in the next days with the updates.Installing other OSes on old Intel Macs wasn't hard at all. Often better than PCs of the same times

@sourcerer that's a great idea. With zfs, that can be a perfect storage server

@stefano @Anniiii I 100% guarantee you Wi-Fi will not work. That, along with several other incompatibilities lead me to abandon FreeBSD on portable Apple hardware pretty quickly.
