       Something like this happened to me a few years ago, when some anonymous goons tried to get me fired. It was terrifying and has indeed had a chilling effect on my public activity.        It's why I locked down my Twitter account at the height of my efforts to crowdsource firsthand accounts of COVID streets program, changed my name on Facebook, and deleted Instagram. It's why I almost never post anything overtly political anywhere anymore, and if I do I usually freak out and delete it half an hour later.
