@mushroom_soup Thinking about this while walking the doggo kind of blew my mind. I always thought when people said "a female mind in a male body" it was understood as a thing arising as a consequence of some faulty wiring in the brain/body. But this person evidently believed that the human mind - or at least the gender part of it lmao - is effectively, well, a soul. Something that shouldn't be affected when the brain falters. They genuinely had to grapple with understanding that a disease affecting the brain could possibly affect the 'gender identity' of a person. Is ALL of this modern gender stuff just... hokey low-quality spiritualism?

@Looming @mushroom_soup no. They thought dementia affected higher level areas of the brain, while gender identity was low level enough that something like dementia wouldnt affect it. It turns out gender identity is higher level than she though.
