@daniel Selected 2014-2019.I use #XMPP regularly since ≈ 2014. A colleague demanded an in-house chat for our development team. So we set up #Prosody. PS: I have an jabber.org account, which still works, but I cannot remember, when I obtained it. Maybe even before 2008. Doesn't count, because I never used it much.#Jabber

@daniel I note that if an equal number of people started using #xmpp / #jabber each year since 1999, the results would be:36% before 2008 24% 2014-2019 24% 2008-2013 16% after 2020

@danielI know that I was regularly using XMPP in 2005/2006 but don't remember when I started. My guess is 2003/2004.

@danielMy first contact with XMPP was an account on draugr.de. The only contact I had on XMPP was a nerdy friend so it barely counts.I started using XMPP in earnest in 2021 after setting up a Prosody server on a Raspberry Pi at home. I use it to communicate with my family.

@daniel the first contact with xmpp I had in 2009/2010 but I was not a regular user, after 10 years love blossomed and currently, together with delta chat, it is my favorite messaging system.
