Thinking about buying Intel arc 770 GPU card. Proprietary, but at least drivers are in Linux kernel. Sadly all GPUs except Intel graphics suck on Linux if you consider software freedom. I haven't investigated yet freedom issue much, but I hope Intel Arc would be more free option than other GPUs.

@w96k I purchased an Arc 770 earlier this year and ended up returning it. At the time it not only didn't work on Trisquel at all (wouldn't even boot into the installer) but ran my games worse than my RX 590 did on the normal Linux kernel. Maybe it's improved, I don't know. best of luck regardless and let us know how it works for you if you do get it.

@publiclewdness that's probably because you need Linux-firmware installed that comes with Linux kernel. I've seen bad reviews in game performance, but I don't care much about it, what I want is drivers. I have rx480 now and it doesn't run gnu guix afaik because of Linux-firmware.Thanks for your reply, maybe I will reconsider buying it. Need to double check user experience.

@w96kI have had some success on Trisquel with my AMD 300 series and older such as my R7 370 and R9 290 but only some. I get 3D accelleration but very slow performance where even Super Tux Kart is a slideshow. Hopefully Trisquel 12 with newer Mesa versions help on this regard.
