       Troll/reply guy tried to get me to back down from my unequivocal  statement that there's no evidence the 2020 election was stolen, claiming it's better to "meet people halfway" if I want to convince them.No. As a researcher and educator, I believe in providing clear, accurate information.The "evidence" that the election was stolen is made up bullshit. To call it anything else is a disservice.If someone claims that 2+2=5, I'm not going to try to get them to compromise that it's 4.5.

       @mattblaze remember that other election and all your security buddies were screaming about how dangerous and untrustworthy computer voting machines were and half the country was screaming the election was stolen and the news media was citing you guys criticizing voting machines while questioning the election results?

       @mattblaze Reply guy had a point that if you want to deprogram people who've gone down the rabbit hole, simply contradicting them with the truth isn't very effective.OTOH, it doesn't have to be *your* job to deprogram them, and as a researcher it probably shouldn't be your job to do so.Some people like B&W photography, some people like colour photography. It's dumb to demand people switch styles, and dumb to suggest everyone use low-saturation colour. Also, I'm crap at metaphor.

       @sgf Look, I’m an election specialist who has studied US voting systems extensively. I am also highly familiar with various actual vulnerabilities in voting systems used in the US that potentially could be exploited to attempt to alter an election outcome. And I have closely followed the various claims that the 2020 election was stolen. To the extent that I have a public role here, it is to truthfully analyze these claims. They are, without exception, obvious fanciful bullshit.

       @sgf Maybe it isn’t “nice” to say that so bluntly, and maybe there are people who will be unreceptive to that clear message, but it’s the simple truth. And if I don’t tell the truth as I understand it here, I would be failing badly in my responsibility, to the extent I have any, as a citizen and as a public intellectual with specialized, relevant knowledge.I’m not a cult deprogrammer.        @sgf The situation with elections is complex and nuanced. There ARE some real weaknesses in US election systems, and it’s important to discuss and fix them. The obviously false (to experts), nonsensical claims made about the 2020 election distract from and ultimately impair our ability to have this important conversation and to productively improve genuinely vulnerable voting systems used in some places in the US.The solution isn’t for people like me to hedge on the truth.

       @mattblaze It is a pseudo-intellectual, "free speech absolutist" server that attracts trolls and disinformation actors. They have a very limited moderation policy provided the users appear to be debating whatever topic, no matter how horrible. They are like a libertarian debate team that tries to engage anyone with a high follower count. Really they are not good people.
