Hey #Obsidian people on here! What are the best options to work with #LLM and #embeddings to find connections between your notes? The Smarter Connections plugin is one obvious example, but I would rather have something that runs locally since I have a vast number of notes to do the calculation on and not all of them are files I want to send to OpenAI’s API.

@anders this is the theory of what I would like to do, but ran locally: https://eugeneyan.com/writing/obsidian-copilot/The author has some code up that you could try, but I haven't tried it myself.A lot of the times, it's feasible to take an existing Obsidian plugin and swap the OpenAI call with your own, but I understand how daunting and time consuming it can be. And it creates long term maintenance and update management issues.

@anders Khoj. It "only" does semantic search but you could lever the same database to also compute relations between notes without explicit search, just using search for each note. Or note block

@mkhoury Thanks! Will definitely have a second look at your approach!

@spinningthoughts You run that outside Obsidian, but point it to the same folder?

@anders the core utility is a python program that runs from terminal, yeah. And then you point it at various resource locations around your system. But it comes with an obsidian plugin to access the API from within Obsidian itself.
