"Virtually every aspect of the early People’s Republic [of China], from the organization of its railways to its party structure to its ethnic minority policy, was copied from the Soviet Union. As Marxist theorists saw it, like the Soviets, China had leapfrogged from peasant feudalism over industrial capitalism straight into socialism. But in reality, both slapped a veneer of socialism over a fusion of new nationalism and old-fashioned empire."#JamesPalmerhttps://foreignpolicy.com/2016/12/24/what-china-didnt-learn-from-the-collapse-of-the-soviet-union/#China #CCP

@sammi> Whatever China is doing, it's workingIt works much better for some people than others, depending on their class position. Just like any other capitalist economy-state.I lived there 2 years. It's better than Aotearoa in some ways (cheaper food, better public transport, less visible homelessness). But much worse in many others, particularly people's lack of freedom to organise without being micromanaged by central authorities. This is hard to fully grasp until you've lived in it.

@sammi> China is a super powerPeople were the saying the same thing about the USSR right before it collapsed. See Hypernormalisation by Adam Curtis:https://fightforinfo.com/videos/watch/59a76113-8010-4fec-a623-fb92ab1a586e> A force that usa is scared ofWhy? China would obviously lose in a naval war, which is why they haven't started one. They would just as obviously win if the US tried a ground invasion, just like Japan did. Which is why they tried to make peace through trade.#video #documentary #AdamCurtis #Hypernormalisation

@strypey#video #documentary #AdamCurtis #Hypernormalisationdude, any war is a lose lose lose situation. for China, it would be a last resort. however, in usa case, its the very first option. gots to create more wealth for the white elite. usa loves to fleece the public purse to fund killing killing killing soo easily, instead of humanitarian aid inside its own borders.Notwithstanding, China is a global super power usa is scared of. The world order is a changing. usa knows this factoid. Hence, usa is constantly trying to puts its knees on China's neck like a George Floyd move, however, China has a non stick nanocoated skin to repel usa shenanigans. 🇨🇳 booyaa

@sammi> any war is a lose lose lose situationFor the human beings caught up in it, sure. But as Randolph Bourne put it, "war is the health of the state". This is as true of China as the US.China's expansionism looks different, because it's strategy is based on where it's military strength lies, which as I said is in its ground game. That why it's happy to invade land-based neighbours like Tibet, but not islands Taiwan. Because the US Navy would support them and China knows they'd lose.

@sammiThe US, in contrast, is weak on land. Which is why they've spent decades trying and failing to conquer the Middle East.US strength is in the Navy, and to a lesser degree, Airforce. This has been true since before WW2, which is why they were able to wipe the floor with the Japanese empire in the Pacific theatre, but couldn't beat Germany without the help of the USSR's ground forces. So their strategy is based around proxy wars in countries on the borders of their geopolitical opponents
