       Have you heard the "positive 'or anything'"?@jsit has been hearing "or anything" used at the end of positive sentences.For example, it's common to hear it at the end of negative sentences: "I'm not angry or anything."But this is the possibly new usage at the end of positive sentences: "Just generally -- people tell you you're too sensitive or anything."If you have heard it, I'd love to know where.

       @grammargirl @jsit Sounds a little like the German “oder,” which literally means ”or [conjunction],” but for some (many?) German speakers is just a defuser at the end of a sentence. “Should we go to the beach, oder?” “I could buy a fish for dinner, oder.”

       @grammargirl I've only heard it in contexts more similar to the first.

       @grammargirl @jsit I don't believe it's a new usage. I believe I start hearing it in the 2010s.

       @grammargirl @jsit I've heard it once. It hurt my brain. It will probably hurt less next time.

       @grammargirl @jsit Agree with an earlier commenter that this remains a 'or whatever' construction in all contexts I have heard

       @grammargirl @jsit I couldn’t swear to it or anything, but I *think* I remember hearing that phrase used that way when I lived in Vancouver, BC in the 90s.

       @grammargirl FWIW, for me at least it's still an uncommon phrase--thank goodness!

       @grammargirl @jsit my dialect has “or nothin’” for this. “I’m not angry or nothin’” sometimes I say “ner nothin’”

       @grammargirl @jsit the positive corollaries to "or anything" are "or whatever” and "and stuff”
