It's funny that most people think they are born in the only true religion.

@lxsameer Maybe for them, this is correct. The religion fits who they are.

@amerika That's so sad. They fall victim to an ideology of just cause where they were born.

@lxsameer Yes and no, in my view.In any religion... there are going to be saner interpretations. Even in seemingly insane cults. There are good people out there everywhere, just being excluded by the Herd who want the lunatic symbolic stuff.

@amerika I agree that there are good people and bad people everywhere. And I think people, with a religion, are victims to religion to begin with. But my beef is with the religion itself. Interpretation of religion, IMHO is fundamentally wrong according to rules of many religions. You don't get to interpret the religion anyway you want if you believe that religion is created by a supreme being. If people know enough to interpret a religion and leave out the bad parts, why bother at all?

@lxsameer I mean on an even more basic level than that. Words in a book are prone to interpretation, even when trying to be absolutely faithful to the letter of the text.Even more, any truth passed on from one person to another is going to be interpreted by the audience as best they can.So even with strict doctrines, there is a natural branching.
