       @strypey Always had huge respect for #Chomsky and much of his geopolitical analysis, but IMHO he has had a fall from grace after #Russia invaded #ukraine .His world-view seem so often to center around 'Murica bad', so for him to say that "The UN Charter ... bars all the activities that the US carries out" - Really? ALL of it? This diminishes the worth of his actual good and important work

       @slaeg > His world-view seem so often to center around 'Murica bad'Chomsky's comments, as always,  are based on inconvenient facts that the establishment in the US, and its vassal states, prefer to ignore. When you look at the record of the US as an international actor, most of it *is* bad.Their role in provoking conflict with Russia is a good example. You can point that out without justifying Russia's actions, and that's what Chomsky does here.

       Until 1975, US women were legally considered the property of their husbands. After a few decades of treating them as full human beings with agency over their own lives, the US has now started going backwards (eg overturning Roe vs. Wade)So before they go taking the sexist twig out of another culture's eye (eg Muslim cultures), maybe they ought to do something about the misogynist tree in their own eye?
