Did you know over 80% of Gazans surveyed explicitly supported the murder of a 17 year old girl in a terrorist attack a few years ago?About 80% of surveyed Gazans also supported continuing a brutal series of terrorist stabbings a few years prior, killing and trying to kill ordinary Israelis and tourists in Israel. Not muddied by other issues. Not even settlers. These are surveys by both Israeli and Palestinian orgs.We can lay to rest the idea that the terrorists are an extreme minority.

@joepie91 "Support" "this type of armed attack" does not mean supports that attack? Oh come on. The surveyed knew what the Dolev attack was, and my adding the details about who was targeted helps us online now understand what the surveyed would already know from context. And they absolutely knew what that wave of knife attacks was referring to. The vast majority clearly unambiguously supported that terrorism. Calling it "brutal" is not poll language but entirely accurate and appropriate.

@joepie91 80% clearly support terrorist type attacks, in which death was specifically called out. That's exactly what that means. You condemn simplistic phrasing and then accuse me of saying "they are terrorists?" 😂 I said no such thing. You seem desperate to believe the respondents' answers specifically supporting deadly attacks somehow isn't really what it is, or that some complexity can somehow justify it.You haven't been stabbed by terrorists in your armchair. Get off your high horse.

@sj I'm not sure you can survey this "Not muddied by other issues." Regardless of the opinion about that result - you can't realistically ask "ignoring the experience of your whole life, the last two wars around your home, your current situation of relying on foreign aid for existence, what do you think of ..." and expect you'll get that. It's a fucked up situation, but people who don't see other options choose aggression.

@viraptor I mean this is not a question asking about Hamas approval rating, which could be about other stuff. This is explicitly about support for attacks on civilians. They did not ask respondents to ignore previous wars, life experience, etc. nor should they have. Of course history, grievances, propaganda, etc. all play a role in why they feel that way. But the point is, they do. We're getting all kinds of confident declarations that it's only a few extremists who support terror. It's not.
