So I did the thing to get the new updated COVID tests— y'know, the ones reformulated to detect the newer strains?— and the ones they delivered not only aren't new, but are so old as to have had to go through TWO expiration extensions.So that's fucking infuriating.

@takloufer I don't know that it's been precisely quantified yet, but I do know there's been higher anecdotal reports of false negatives with the older ones. So.

@Wolven Have you seen this thread? It explains why the old RAT tests still “work.” They measure the nucleocapsid protein (N), not the spike protein in the virus. N doesn’t change that much. https://mastodon.social/@Wikisteff/111143636834178551
