RE USPS, and one thing we can not let happen is what the GOP has been trying to achieve for a decade or more. Their goal is to get rid of the USPS and sell it off to their corporate friends to handle.1/2

@Ricardus The sad fact is that they're already doing it right now as we speak as long as Dejoy is still there calling the shots. The effects are already happening in some delivery methods such as First Class Mail and Media Mail and made even worse during the holiday season where packages take a very long time to ship with reports of missing mail.

@joeo10 I know I don't pay attention to politics and these things as much as I should these days (anxiety) but why/how hasn't Biden gotten rid of Dejoy yet? WTF?

@Ricardus @joeo10 The postmaster general is not appointed by the president, but by the USPS board of governorsMembers of the USPS BoG *are* appointed by the president, but are subject to Senate confirmation, making the whole thing a little bit more complicated than it needs to be.

@prokyonid @joeo10 Yes, but I thought he has enough of the board on his side to kick that asshole out.

@Ricardus @joeo10 I'm not sure precisely the majority requirements for the BoG to replace the PMG, but the present make-up is 4 Dems, 4 Repubs, and one nominal independent who leans Dem. At any rate, they'd have to want DeJoy out to get rid of him, and given he's been so pliable now that the BoG is fully occupied again, I'm sure the Dems would like to keep him around as evidence of how bipartisan they can be.

@prokyonid @joeo10 That's a good point. But he really does need to go.

@Ricardus @joeo10 Most definitely. As soon as the opportunity arises, he will go right back to gutting it. It's the Dem ratchet effect in action.
