Shotcut looks good. I am browsing their website now. I am not sure that I was aware of it before.

@matthew For complete beginners, there's Openshot. Everything is intuitive there.Shotcut has more possibilities, but requires a tutorial course, there are a lot of possibilities.

@matthew kdenlive. I don't do all that much video editing, but it seems pretty powerful and feature complete.

@matthew Kdenlive is FOSS, but the proprietary DaVinci resolve is preferred by some for the additional features.

Many people have recommended #kdenlive. I've used is briefly in the past, but not long enough to know how to use it well. Thanks for the response 😄

I think I'll be giving Shotcut a try. I appreciate your validation of it, as it is good to hear from people who have been using a tool for quite a while and still like it.

@matthew @Paradox Yep... and you can see from the video I put together (I was experimenting with it for one of the first times), it does titling, wipes and makes editing very precisely very easy. Hope you enjoy it at least as much as I do.

@matthew I really really like Kdenlive. The only problem is it's terrible for what I generally do with video editors on the rare occasions that I need them, which is stiching together videos of different sizes, aspects, and frame rates. It's also entirely possible that I'm just an idiot, but I always have to prep each file in advance first, which kind of sucks. That aside, for more typical use cases, I love it. I loved it on Windows before I switched back to dailying Linux again as well. It's fully featured (enough for me at least), incredibly compact, and super lightweight, even on an old Haswell i5.Now that I've upgraded to a comparatively modern Ryzen, it still runs great, but renders are take seconds rather than many minutes 😅

@matthew Iirc the documentation was a little terse, so I leaned on videos to fill in the gaps where it expected me to know where a bit of UI was without a visual. To be fair, I don't really read manuals. I went in expecting to know how to handle the basics (I was wrong) and jumped straight into the page on motion tracking, lol.
