Anyone know of a #FOSS #android app ala #pidgin that supports multiple chat protocols? Mainly looking for #XMPP and #Matrix with E2EE and room/group chat support... other protocols are a bonus. (Not asking for much am I... :blobnerd: )

@kln Maybe I would just use a #Jabber app, such as #Conversations by @daniel or one of its forks — and a private #XMPP server with #Slidge by @nicoco as bridge to Matrix and many other protocols:https://git.sr.ht/~nicoco/slidgeBut probably it does not support #E2EE...

@debacle @daniel @nicoco Its an idea, I certainly would love bridging everything.The E2EE issue is why I was thinking of a single app that could do multiple protocols. So would still have separate servers, with separate users, but have it collected in one place.Its not even about which protocol is "the one" (not interested in that atm). I just want to hang out with the FOSS communities split between them. Without having to use two clients.Lazy. I know. :blobcatcoffee:

@kln Not lazy, I also hate having two apps doing the same thing. I was an avid pidgin user for a while, but one day I got a smartphone and wanted to extend the concept of "single app for chatting" to several devices, and XMPP gateways (or transports or bridges or whatever) were there to save me. It was spectrum2 at the time, which still work but is in maintenance mode unfortunately, and it's never been great for groups. So I started slidge.https://spectrum.im/https://sr.hr/~nicoco/slidge
