do people still use linkedin?i deleted mine about five years ago because none of the recruiters who contacted me through linkedin ever bothered to read my resume beforehand, not even the ones who were cold-contacting me.I'd get these really enthusiastic copy-pasted messages about how they think i'd be perfect for $POSITION at $COMPANY, which was usually some high-level webshit. i'd respond and they'd set up a phone call and then immediately tell me im not qualified.

@snickerbockers I still get useful stuff there often enough that I keep it.What I can't understand at all is people posting political stuff there. 1) It ain't Facebook. 2) Do y'all not get the concept of “professional networking”? I don't want to talk politics all day at work, even if I agree with the person.

for context, ive never done any high-level webshit programming in my entire life, i've always been a low-level kernel/device driver programmer and to a lesser extent i have some experience with 3D graphics and compilers.but back in 2016 i was getting frustrated with lack of career advancement at my employer so i was willing to try out a different role even if it meant learning a lot of new things which is why i wasted so much time on this idiotic linkedin recruiter spam.
