You can now full-text-search public Mastodon posts! . . . IF1) the author has enabled full-text searching of their posts, and 2) both their and your Mastodon instances have upgraded to Mastodon version 4.2.0. and have installed Elasticsearch (which is an extra infrastructure cost).If available, you can enable full-text searching of *your* posts by clicking Edit profile and selecting "Privacy and reach" in the top navigation bar. Then check "Include public posts in search results".

@smach but elasticsearch on previous versions of mastodon was already providing that in my memory.I deactivated it because the ressource cost was very high

@tuxicoman For non admins, as I was on Fosstodon before moving to my own instance, the instance's Elasticsearch lets you full text search on your own posts and posts you liked or boosted, but not all other posts known to the instance.
