One of my most mortal enemies is the rubberized soft touch coating put on all sorts of electronics in the 90s through to the 2010s that over time degrades into a gross sticky surface that can't be cleaned away.

One positive story is that when my original Zoom H1 digital audio recorder developed this sticky syndrome I emailed Zoom and they sent me a new H1n, without the rubberized surface. Zoom proved to be a real class act.

@mediageek That’s fantastic to hear. Love a company that stands by its product for the long haul. I recently took my Zoom H6 out of its case for the first time time in years, and noticed that the grippy texture was now holding my fingerprints. Gross.

@misener @mediageek My H4 also has done this. Maybe I should contact them and get a replacement. This is good info.
