Just had a memory from when I was maybe 10 or so. My dad came into my room when I was listening to the radio, and I was singing along. He asked me how I knew how to harmonise (when I got bored, I'd sing the harmony). I answered that I didn't know, and we chatted and he left.He was a musician of sorts, played the cornet and the double bass in a trad jazz band in his youth. Why would that memory pop up now? 😂

@Sabex a nice reminder of a moment with your dad? A nod to a different talent you don't use much?

@Sabex our memory system is a fantastic mystery.God damn Linda Lupatkin's name keeps entering my mind for no apparent reason, I didn't even realize who she was. It bugged me so much that her name was stuck in my brain that I searched for it.Turns out she's an ad buyer type of donator @adam & @Johncdvorak on #NA. My zoned out listening to the live stream must have embedded her in my noodle without a proper reference marker. So weird.Holographic universe theory of memories seems plausible

@Sabex in a quasi-related corollary to this, there's a French phrase for those awkward moments when there's an extended pause in the conversation, like at a dinner table. I wish I had written it down cuz I can never find it but I remember it translates to "an angel was passing by".Perhaps you were thinking of your father because your father was checking up on you.

@Klaatu That's a lovely thought. It'd be nice to think of him before the dementia just checking in.

@Sabex fond memories don't need a specific reason to pop up, they just do and usually the nicer memories.

@lmcnn @Sabex oh cool thanks I'm saving that one.I don't know if the French still treat it as a traditional superstition but the saying started I think as a medieval superstition like throwing salt over your shoulder. It is a beautiful thought to describe an awkward moment though. I think officially the words "must be" are in there too since it's an assumption being angels are unseen. That may change the exact phrase a bit.
