@aliss It's even weirder that this is only true because IBM PC-DOS did this, and Microsoft MS-DOS chose to be compatible by default, with a switch in CONFIG.SYS to change it to Un*x like path sep and command switches that eventually got nuked as nobody used it. SO CLOSE... πŸ™ƒ

@GNUxeava @aliss Windows has supported forward slash for about 2 decades, DevOps tools often normalize paths to forward slash.

@aliss @GNUxeava batch files work, registry paths are backslash on all supported platforms, APIs unsure which you mean all .NET file APIs support forward slash at least.

@devlead @aliss @GNUxeava Maybe this depends on what you understand by "supports". It passively understands /, but actively paths are still given with \, arenβ€˜t they?

@devlead @aliss @GNUxeava (Being a Unix/Linux/Mac guy, I find typing a single \ without escaping it with another one quite disturbing. When I see "C:\temp" I read a tab character after the colon πŸ™ƒ.)
