Now Google is going to block me from watching YouTube videos because of my heinous use of adblockers so I don't have to watch adverts for tampons, cigarettes, dodgy-dating sites and heroin. So, what can I do on #Linux or more specifically #linuxmint to block these adverts when they're clearly employing an ad-blocker detector?Would a Pi-Hole do it or would it somehow detect that too? Is there something like #Windows had with its Hosts file into which I could just drop the URLS of scurvy adsites?

I usually use the #Freetube app to watch youtube videos. It blocks the ads. What did you end up using?

@matthew I had a go at the Hosts file. At the moment Linux Mint is not being very cooperative. I tried to log in as Admin and had a load of error messages scrolling down the screen for several minutes before I rebooted. I'm unable to edit the hosts file so I'm going to have to try a different approach. I'm trying the freetube app. Downloading it as I post this. I suppose the worst case scenario I will end up putting up a Pi Hole. edit....Realized when I was about to start the download that it needed several gigs of disk space. My little laptop is already slow and overloaded so I didn't press install. I'll see about getting a Pi Zero W to put a Pi Hole in place. That'll be untraceable.
