This fountain pen costs more than my Macbook Pro (new). And it can't even run Scrivener!Friends don't let friends buy pens. Friends buy real writing tools, not fancy jewellery that leaks ink.

@cstross *SIGH* Real fountain pens are not "fancy jewellery" and you can get laptops and many other everyday objects in that category as well.Also real fountain pens do not EVER leak ink.Real fountain pens are more effective than ballpoints and far more pleasant to use. Also, barring damage, they will last for a very long time.

@Steveg58 I'm a leftie and I write with my hand above the line and bent 90 degrees. Being forced to use a fountain pen at school (yes, I am old enough the school desks had inkwells for dip pens) was *torture*.

@BradRubenstein @cstross @Steveg58 If your school is authoritarian enough that it forces kids to write with fountain pens I can only imagine how they'd react if a kid were to write RTL.

@cstross @BradRubenstein @Steveg58 They still do. In fact Pelikan, the brand of pen you showed in the initial photo, are famous for their school pens. Here's a pretty purple pen for lefties.
