I just saw someone refer to "engagement bate" instead of "engagement bait." That's an error I've never seen before. Usually the error is "baited breath" instead of "bated breath." #JustInteresting

@grammargirl Is that when someone's engagement decides it doesn't want to be on the present article any more and starts flapping wildly and ends up hanging upside down? (The falconry usage.)

@grammargirl Thanks! I would have made that usual error. This was a great opportunity to validate various grammar checkers on macOS using the sentence:He waited with baited breath for there reaction.- MS Word 2019: flags “there”, no issue found with “baited”- Pages: checker was off by default, turning it on now finds both. Won't check until an ending punctuation is placed 😲-Apple Mail: finds both… sometimes-Scrivener: clunky, auto replaces typos, need to fix spelling first😡-Ivory: nupe😖
