I often heard that, #Firefox is the only true alternative to #Chrome browser - because it uses Gecko instead of blink/webkit. I just saw on wikipedia that firefox for android uses webkit. What ?...Why ?

@otyugh Non, it doesn't. Firefox on Android uses GeckoView (unlike on iOS, because Apple mandates that all browsers on iOS must use WebKit).

@otyugh Mozilla seems to disagree: https://wiki.mozilla.org/Mobile/GeckoViewNote the point on the engine powering Firefox.Where it did use WebKit (to the best of my knowledge) is iOS, because Apple didn't allow other engines in the past. Don't know the current state of affairs there, though.

@otyugh Firefox is a paid compediter to chrome so google can point out that there's another browser that's certainly not controlled by google. You may want to re-read, as the article actually says that firefox for iOS uses webkit.Apple requires that all web browsers must be proprietary and use their proprietary webengine (webkit), so to have "firefox" on iOS, the developers needed to make it use webkit.
