       There was, and maybe still is? An argument that by shipping a Distro with EVERYTHING pre-installed helps those with no or poor internet connectivity; however, with the demise of install-fests etc. I have to agree there seems less reason to ship a full disc but rather let the user decide what they want rather than spending time installing what to some is simply bloat.https://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2023/09/ubuntu-23-10-minimal-mistake

       @dick_turpin  I remember when the easiest way to get a new distro was from the front cover of Linux Format magazine because downloading one would have taken forever.I think you used to be able to order a bunch of disks from Ubuntu (for free) to hand out at user group meets.

       @dick_turpin Certainly were.There's a lot to be said for how easy it is to find the answer to a problem now, but I had the most fun draging my computer down to the local LUG meet to figure it out with someone else.
