They downplay #Covid, no mention of😷...: We have the tools. If you’re vaxxed +access to Paxlovid, why worry? Jha: some ppl may be more vulnerable +played his biggest hit: Don’t worry, be happy. Jh, Doron & their ilk can speak so soothingly bc -part of the class insulated from the worst effects of Covid -can afford expensive tests & new boosters. Covid might lead to at least 45K deaths b/w Sept & Apr🚨 —& that’s the best-case scenario. Welcome to the “You Do You” Pandemic. https://www.thenation.com/article/society/covid-surge-response-ignored/

@KimPerales ... and then all those non-fatal, not PCR tested, long-covid cases that are going to chew up medical and diagnostic resources until we get systematic about detecting and supporting those folks

@KimPerales The Washington Post article linked has listed resources where the poor can get free tests. Don’t know what will be available October 1 as the Republicans in the House might shut down the government if they don’t get their way. Their focus seems to be on protecting Trump and impeaching Biden.https://www.washingtonpost.com/health/2023/08/07/covid-cases-rising-free-testing-limited/

@KimPerales Funny how nobody in Manhattan was relaxing when their role in "You Do You" diverted vaccinations from extended care facilities in Upstate. My uncle died on the day of his vaccination appointment. A vax appointment that was delayed thanks to the greedy and soulless.Nothing that has happened since makes this family pivot toward forgiveness. Books will be balanced. Sooner or later.

@KimPerales No one understands that any and all viruses cause permenant disability or contribute to long term damage in the future. We know that each time you break a bone that it urts once in a while and by 60 ur in a hell of a lot of pain. But people take covid with a grain of salt. America is not the smartest or best country in the world.

@KimPerales It’s not really “you do you” either, it’s “do what you want, but we’re going to shame you and imply that you’re weak and/or irrational if you take any visible precautions or withhold any discretionary spending from corporations.”

@KimPerales having been through a cluster this summer, even with “the tools” the cost of testing prohibited doing it often enough-$50 to test my family of 4. And we had one severe allergic reaction to Paxlovid so that tool’s not a age option for everyone. Also had some Paxlovid rebound cases, one of which I think infected someone else, which we might have been able to forestall with more frequent testing.
